LAHTI GEM CHINA DELEGATION TOUR – BEIJING & SHANGHAI, 7–14 AUGUST 2026
The Lahti GEM Cluster is planning a business delegation and benchmarking mission to China on 7–14 August 2026, focusing on the following key themes:
- Clean and green urban logistics
- Electrification of light and heavy-duty transport
- Charging infrastructure and energy solutions
- Autonomous mobility and logistics
- Smart city planning and mobility ecosystems
- Testbeds and pilot environments for electric and autonomous transport
The delegation will visit Beijing (7–11 August) and Shanghai (12–14 August), meeting leading companies, innovation clusters, chambers of commerce, and mobility ecosystem stakeholders. The program is expected to include visits and discussions with EV manufacturers, autonomous driving companies, charging technology providers, logistics operators, innovation hubs, and industry associations.
The Shanghai part of the mission will coincide with two major industry expos:
International New Energy Auto Technology & Supply Chain Expo (NEAS)
12–14 August 2026, Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC)

- New Energy Vehicles (NEVs)
- Batteries and battery systems
- Power electronics
- EV supply chains and manufacturing
- OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, and technology providers
International Auto Inno Tech Week (IATW)
12–14 August 2026, Shanghai
- Focus areas:
- EV technologies
- Intelligent and sustainable mobility
- Automotive innovation
- Smart mobility ecosystems
Participation is self-funded, and each organization is responsible for its own travel and accommodation costs. Lahti GEM will coordinate the programme, company visits, stakeholder meetings, and networking opportunities.
It is also possible to participate only in the Shanghai section (12–14 August) if that better suits your schedule and interests.
The mission offers an excellent opportunity to:
- Gain first-hand insights into the world's largest EV and mobility market, and regulations
- Learn from China's leading smart mobility and logistics ecosystems
- Explore business, innovation, and R&D collaboration opportunities
- Benchmark advanced testbeds and pilot environments for electric and autonomous transport

The events and actions of the Lahti GEM have been implemented as a part of projects:
ZERO-TRAIL (Towards Zero-emission Urban Transport and Logistics) 2025-2026, which is part of the European Commission funded Enabling City Transformation programme. The City of Lahti is the main implementer. GEM Energizer 2025-2027, funded by the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme.
Lahti GEM Supercluster 2026-2028, funded by the EU Sustainable Urban Development programme (EAKR) under the Lahti ecosystem agreement. The project is managed by Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd, with LUT University as a co-implementer.
GEM Launcher 2023-2024. GLOBAL GEM internationalization project 2023. Carbon Neutralization Ecosystem 2021-2022. All projects were funded by the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme and the Regional Support for Sustainable Growth and Vitality (AKKE).
